Friends of River Fund Cancer Connection

Friends of River Fund Cancer Connection was established in 2018 to provide year-around fundraising to assist local cancer patients and to raise cancer awareness. Homemade canned goods and handmade bracelets are offered to raise funds to provide medication, doctor co-pays, transportation and other necessities to help cancer warriors in the Tri-state area.

This group of dedicated volunteers led by co-chairs Barbara Bodley and Lenee Seed creates culinary delights in the form of a variety of homemade pickles, jams and jelly from award-winning recipes and offered for a donation of $7 per jar. Jam varieties include strawberry, blueberry, blackberry, triple berry, peach, mango, pear, cherry, tomato and basil, plus jalapeno jelly and bread-and-butter and dill pickle slices and dill spears, made with the best hand-selected fruit and cucumbers and canned in their home kitchens following all Nevada state food safety rules.

A variety of sparkly beaded stretch bracelets also are on offer, along with specialty items to help make cancer patients’ lives a little easier, including picc pillows and lap blankets.

All proceeds benefit River Fund Inc.’s Cancer Connection Fund, helping local cancer patients with a variety of needs during treatment, including prescriptions, doctor co-pays, transportation and lodging for out-of-town procedures and more.
